Abstract
Presents a description of the implementation of a supplier source integration (SSI) program at a large manufacturing company, and the challenges faced in the pursuit of new processes, methodologies and techniques. Discusses issues pertaining to the management of interfaces with the supplier over the entire product development life cycle. There is particular focus on the choice of the supplier and overcoming problems arising from the ināhouse design team. Previous experiences of the company with SSI have given the current design team a number of positive and negative results together with a set of recommendations that can be used in the current implementation of SSI for an exhaust system. These can also provide the basis for determining a future strategy.

Abstract
Describes a case study of a process reengineering project conducted by a tier 1 supplier in the automotive industry. The process that was reengineered was the billātoācash process for its OEM customer. Deficiencies in the process came to light as a result of implementing OEM mandated support for the firmās material flow process. The case analysis examines the interconnectedness of processes within a firm and how changing one through adoption of EDI can affect or draw attention to a number of related processes. Describes the role played by a very active industry interest group, which has served as a supporter and advocate for the adoption of EDI within the automotive supply chain.

Abstract
This paper presents a framework for understanding the technological change and its impacts on environments where multiple versions of a technology exist simultaneously. Both orienting and limiting role of physical (skeumorph) and conceptual metaphors on the products, processes, and user experience in changing from a familiar functional implementation to the one employing new media is illustrated using examples showing the transition from wet photography to digital imagery and from surface mail to eāmail. People use physical (skeumorph) and conceptual metaphors to orient themselves with new technology by understanding new functions in terms of earlier technological versions. Since new technology is adopted at varying rates and varying times, multiple versions exist at any given time. Sometimes expectations appropriate for earlier technological iterations obscure the challenges and possibilities presented by the new media implementation. This paper examines how new technologies challenge and are challenged by the contexts into which they are introduced. By understanding the function that physical (skeumorph) and conceptual metaphors play in facilitating technological change, we can become more conscious of the discontinuities between the new technological iteration and earlier implementations to gain deeper awareness about how āthe newā functions differently and to help us engage new technology closer to its own terms and open up new possibilities for its use.

Abstract
Lecture recording provides learning material for local and distance education. The TeleTeachingTool uses the very flexible screen recording technique to capture virtually any material displayed during a presentation. With its builtāin annotation system teachers can add freehand notes and emphasize important parts. Unlike other screen recorders, our implementation offers slideābased navigation, full text search and annotated scripts, which are obtained by automated postāproduction. This article presents how automated analysis generates indices for slideābased navigation on the fly and how to achieve live interlinkage of annotations with slides so that annotations disappear when a slide is changed and are made visible again when returning to that slide later during presentation, although screen recorders generally do not provide an association of annotations with slides.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is two fold: educate investors about hedge fund managers' activities prior to the fraud recognition by the authorities and to help investors and other stakeholders in the hedge fund industry identify red flags before fraud is actually committed.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper investigates fraud committed by the Bayou Funds, Beacon Hill Asset Management, Lancer Management Group (LMG), Lipper & Company and Maricopa investment fund. The fraud activities took place during 2000 and 2005.
Findings
The five cases alone cost the hedge fund investors more than $1.5 billion. Investors may have had a good opportunity for avoiding the irrecoverable costs of the fraud had they carefully vetted the backgrounds of the hedge fund managers and/or continuously monitored the funds activities, especially during turbulent market environments.
Originality/value
This is the first research paper to identify and extensively investigate fraud committed by hedge funds. In spite of the size of the hedge fund industry and relatively substantial level and inevitably recurring fraud, academic journals are to yet address this issue. The paper is of great value to hedge funds and their individual and institutional investors, asset managers, financial advisers and regulators.
